A Puzzle Hour gets another set of eyes and ears on your story to help you see the whole picture. It’s also a sample of what book coaching with me is like, and you’ll get actionable feedback and ideas to help you move forward! It’s “talking out a problem” with the benefits of guidance, pointed questions, and personal feedback that’s relevant to you and your specific story.
Sometimes you get stuck, unsure, or frustrated when you attempt to connect the same pieces together over and over. Sometimes you know something feels off but can’t identify exactly what it is. Or you have a character or plot point acting like an obstacle instead of a ramp to new possibilities.
Puzzles are more fun, and solved faster, with a friend. And a Puzzle Hour is great for discussing things like:
- choosing which story idea or plot point to pursue
- digging into a character’s motives, psyche, or background
- deepening relationships between characters
- analyzing an outline
- filling in a plot hole
- consolidating characters or plot to better fit the whole
- exploring a complex magic or political system
Before we sit down and chat, you’ll complete an in-depth questionnaire to help me understand where you need help. Then we’ll hop on a video call for an hour to tackle your most pressing writing puzzle!

About the Book Coach
I am a story sponge and possibility thinker, which means I’m happiest when juggling several story threads and giving you lots of ideas and options to consider for each presented path, be it your characters, plot, or (my favorite) how they interconnect. I live for your “ah ha!” moments.
As a coach, I’m warm, grounded, and curious. My tried and true process provides structure and confidence where you may feel untethered and unsure. I created Puzzle Hour to bridge the gap between developmental editing and book coaching, giving you a place to come for one-on-one feedback when you need a particular problem solved.
