This was my second novel but my first with an editor. I was forewarned that editing would be a difficult and sometimes frustrating process, and it was. The editing process requires an editor that is truthful, skilled, observant, and tough when they need to be. An author doesn’t need an editor who buys off on a book and only fixes grammar and punctuation but one who will navigate you through the story, not only with those fixes, but with pointed questions, concerns, and direction. The final trick is to do it and still be empathetic to the author’s intentions. Curly Quotes did all of these well. I highly recommend them and plan on going back with my next book.
